I’m a writer, illustrator, and the mother of twin nearly one-year-old baby girls. I recently moved from Brooklyn to Pittsburgh.
A series of random observations: I hear birds. It’s raining outside. The babies are napping, but I hear intermittent crying, which means this precious time here at the computer might be coming to an end for now. Our living room is a giant play area. My desk is a mess and covered in art supplies and papers.
My husband and I are Pigeon and Sparrow, respectively. Just because. And the babies are Space Monkeys. They landed on earth May 2013.
This blog is where I come to record observations, think about being a mother, make art, link to interesting articles, and have fun. I try to post once a day. Here’s a watercolor of the babes:
And their father D, the love of my life:

This is the best thing ever. We are so overdue in being in touch with you about this wonderful visitation you have had. But hope to remedy that soon.
Meantime, thank you for taking us into the fun, beauty and fatigue of it all.
Sending you all much love,
Sarah and Walter
Thanks Sarah and Walter! Hope we’ll see you soon and glad to be in touch 🙂
My phone is being wacky. Lol. I…love this. These pics are a super cool idea. 🙂 I like the idea of characters. I might have to borrow if I’m up for it.
Please do! It’s fun having an animal alter-ego 🙂
You are quite a talent, you know! This is a brilliant blog!
Thank you!! You’re a talented photographer yourself.
Hi, is it possible to get updates from your blog by email too?
Thanks for your comment! I didn’t realize I had to add a widget for that…but now I just did! Hopefully it works. Thanks for the heads up!
Great. Now I will not miss your posts. I don’t know how the reader works on wordpress. I seem not to be getting what I want. Oh well, technology… Thanks again 🙂

Hi! Thanks for stopping by here, too!
Ha! I lived in Sunset Park, too. When I first moved to the city. Or maybe it was Borough Park. 10th ave and 40th street that was over ten years ago! Good luck with your journey.
Awesome! That’s more Borough Park–but really close! Thanks for the good wishes!

Isn’t it beyond objectionable that NYCers have to move states to get a washer/dryer in their apartments? We think nothing of schlepping en masse in pool shoes and our oldest clothes at our most undignified to wash our dirty laundry in public! Even my granny on ye olde Ireland didn’t have to suffer so much indignity and she had a well outside!
Ha! Yes in other cities turns out they don’t put up with that sort of thing. Thanks for visiting and commenting!!
Hello, as a valued reader of my blog, I have nominated you for the Wonderful Team Member Readership Award – I love this because it offers a chance to thank people who follow and read your posts (plus there’s very little work required – just to thank and nominate, lol). Thank you so much, Lydia!!! I am really happy and flattered! Thank you so much for the mention on your blog! I am definitely going to do these, too, I’m just somehow disorganized about it. This will be my blog project for the weekend! I needed some inspiration 🙂
Thank you for stopping by my blog! I appreciate the visit! 🙂
Any time. Thanks for visiting back!
I voted again at Top Mommy Blog
You did? Oh thank you! I need to vote for your blog, too!
Hey Sparrow! How are you all doing?? Haven’t heard from you much recently and just wanted to say hello! Hope the babies are enjoying their new adventures on foot. 🙂
Hi Olivia! We ‘re well. I have to get back to blogging. We moved houses, and I had some freelance work which kept me busy and threw off my blogging schedule. But the babies are growing and changing so much each day I can’t keep up. Time to write some of it down for sure! And catch up on my blog reading, too! Thanks for checking in on me!
Oh that’s great! Moving house is stressful at the best of times, never mind with two babies. That’s brilliant that you got some freelance writing work. Hopefully it will keep coming. I’d love a few more gigs. Sorry for being so nosy – a few of my blogger friends went quiet over the summer and I couldn’t help wonder what happened to you all! 🙂
